Instead of a manifestoI am, I believe since always, haunted by our fiasco that of Romanian people, to succeed to make us understandable and make known our values.
I am not a part of the big mass of those who think that we were born different, as a nation full of talent, intelligence, nice and applied, as nobody in the world. But from here and up to the way to blaspheme ourselves, to ignore ourselves, and not to help each other, there is a huge abyss which intrigues me. Here they find the black hole which should provoke of lively discuss, and not test them of physicists of Geneva.
Being young man, and in some way parent of Cuanda family, my eyes fell on a letter addressed by the general, to his son Henry, the future famous scientist and innovator. The author declared himself powerless, in his intention to support all alone the projects of his prodigal son and after having sold almost all the family's fortune, declared himself beaten off, him the good soldier, and he recommended to his son, with tears in his eyes, to try to become somebody among the foreigners.
Huge sadness! Why are not they known in the high society of arts, as they deserve it, veritable values as Andreescu, Pallady, Toniza, Tuculescu, Anghel, Apostu, and many others, several others?
Why about Cucuteni civilization we speak, apart, only between us?
What should we make today so that on names as Bernea, Gheorghiu, Irimescu, or those of gifted and young painters and sculptors of Cluj and Bucharest schools, which follow them so different, the dust of obliviousness do not lie?
Must we count perhaps only on the Hungarian market of art, in order to see how are promoted the artists as Mattis-Teutsch, Corbu, Crisan, Emptied, Negrulea, and so on?
Must we reckon always on the emigrate artists, promoted in the world, elsewhere, enjoying the comfortable frame of free and vivacious international art markets?
Perhaps one day will come, when we will note that the fundamental problem is not to pretend that we don't know that from the past until our days our presence in the big palaces, today museums and collections and from there in the superb albums and documented researches on art, was assured by a simple and efficient means, as the free circulation of creations and masterpieces. Being indeed anxious with the national heritage – but eyes turned to heritages and opinions of the others, not only towards those from our home, let be connected to the community of European and worldwide galerists and antiquarians, exposing with intelligence, everywhere, and especially to sell. More and more, hired and hired, through a strict selection but not an emotional. That's how we will become well-known and appreciate.
That's why my first thought was it to reach, when it's gave to me the opportunity, a group of enthusiastic specialists and to conceive together a society: Artmark and its three different segments : an auction society, a contemporary art gallery, Point contemporary and a classical and modern art gallery, ArtSociety.
Being their representative, I became the first Romanian individual member of CINOA (Confédération Internationale des Commerçants des Oeuvres d’Art), the most important international association of galerists and antiquarians of art, by assuming the obligation to federate the Romanian values of art, and to educate together, also, in the rigor and the professionalism of the statutes of old guilds, so that Romania finds itself in a close future and on the map of the attractive artistically values.
Is it a manifesto?
At the moment it is only a credo, a bit pathetic.
